Privacy Policy

Our code of conduct and your pledge to be an upstanding member of Shipyard.

Introduction

Shipyard is run by a small team and funded by the community. We build tools to help developers learn DevOps, cloud infrastructure, and automation through interactive sandboxes. This policy describes how we collect, store, and protect your personal information when you use our website and simulator nodes.

Information we collect

We only collect data that is necessary to run the platform and save your learning history. This includes your account credentials (email address and password hash), basic profile details (display name, chosen username, and optional profile picture), and your course completion rates. We use secure HTTP-only cookies to handle authentication. We do not use advertising trackers or cross-site tracking cookies.

How we use your data

Your information is used strictly to provide learning services. We use your email to secure your account and send critical updates. Your learning history is tracked to show your progress on your dashboard and generate completion certificates. Profile details are displayed on public profile pages only if you explicitly choose to make your profile public.

Sharing and third parties

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information with advertisers or brokers. Your account information is stored securely inside our Supabase database. Payment details for donations are processed directly by our secure payment gateway providers and never touch our servers.

Data retention and deletion

We store your data as long as your account is active. You can edit your profile information or delete your account at any time directly through your dashboard settings. Deleting your account permanently wipes all your personal records, course progress, and issued certificates from our databases.
